Bluestone Lake

Bluestone Lake is a reservoir located on the New River near Hinton, West Virginia. Fishing for bluegill, catfish, crappie, and large- and smallmouth bass is excellent, and the current state record for striped bass was caught here: 45.70 pounds and 47.16 inches long. On a sunny summer day, you’ll see just about every type of watercraft imaginable: fishing boats, pontoons, paddle boats, rowboats, kayaks and canoes.

Adjacent to the lake is the Bluestone State Park, 2,100 acres of mountainous terrain, sandstone cliffs that seemingly rise into the clouds and unspoiled forests of oak and hickory trees with deer, squirrel, raccoon and turkey for hunters and mink, muskrat, fox and bobcat for trappers. You can practice your skills with a bow and arrow or a rifle on the ranges near Indian Mills.
